london bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down...lalalalalala...my fair lady...(right, so i cannot remember the lyrics OK?) Posted by Hello

the zoo & the singapore fashion festival & i want the hot cross buns!!

you know sometimes how you tell yourself that going to some place that you found really cool way back then in your youth cannot be as cool as it is now? well, yeah i was telling myself wrong. i like the zoo! it appears kinda pretty much smaller now then i remembered it to be. still quite a walk but still smaller when compared to imagination.

love the otters..haha but i miss the mongeese. for those of you who followed me from my old blog - i loved the night safari too. and now i have enuff experience, after visiting both day and night zoos to say that there is a diabolical ploy by the keepers to keep predator and prey RIGHT NEXT to each other.

this could be a nefarious scheme at population control where unseen at night in the day zoo and vice versa at night in the day zoo, the fences are...lifted! and thus sammy the little feathered chick is consumed by murtak the giant reptile! or boswick the cute cheetah by day is boswick the hungry cheetah at night. and really, being able to run at 120km/h in that small enclosure is an advantage. don't think anything otherwise.

on saturday, went over to the other 'zoo' over at the Tent@ngee ann city civic plaza. looks cool, seems like they really put some thought in bringing a fashion stage to singapore. but then the bloody hospitality sucks so big time that if service were measured by the degree seen at the SFF, then singapore is a basket case at service. we might as well sell ourselves back to malaysia and stop fighting for more economic clout. we will use it all up anyway. casino? building up coffers for our future masters.

really! geez! i cannot believe the audacity of AFI-PICOART. the organisers. honestly, what harm would it bloody well do to spend some amount of money on proper hospitality? nothing! they are already making loads of profit with STB, mercedes benz and other sponsors throwing cash down their greedy little paws so treat the audience better! give them proper seats, give the interested parties more respect and well honestly you never know who is in the audience.

*breathe in breathe out, breathe in breathe out* *shrugs* the greedy will lose what the greedy never had.and the dumb & naive will lose more than what the greedy ever made.

yeah liv, back to counting down to MAY. wanna guess what happens in MAY? *grin*
jo!!! hot cross buns??*drool*
rotiboy...*brrrrr*

thank god it's a Friday

woohoo! welcome johanna to the wonderfully delicate world of cyber-writing that is otherwise known as blogging. ain't it so fun that you have been infected by the 'convert the unconverted' spiel that every blogger seems to have put you through?

so thanks to the happy suggestions of everyone who read my MSN nick and my whinging about there not being a bakery near my office...they have all pointed me in two seperate extreme directions. tks to jo( can i call u that? it makes it easier to type than johanna), anyways, according to her delightful analysis ( after coming to the rational conclusion that my ofc isn't anyway near orchard road ), she has pointed me to...rotiboy. which she of course claims that since she is based in an isolated ulu-fied part of the sunny island, she will eat everyday if she can.

the other alternative is to drown my delectably acute bread-attuned taste buds into delifrance bread. *disgust* no offence again to all loyal delifrance patrons, but with a subway in the same building, there really is no competition.
i want a breadtalk or confectionery not a coffeebean but instead i end up with a spinelli's. what kind of ironic justice is that??!!

oh oh ... hey lin! still manning the customers' slot at Heeren? you really shouldn't have mentioned raffy you know. that really kind of gave the game away. *grin* glad you found the site.

and now for the final reason why i started this entry - i am so glad it's a long weekend. it took forever for the four days to pass by. and so many peeps on MSN were counting down (no liv, we weren't the only ones).and this week just seemed full of anticipation for the weekend, like the closest approximate i can remember is waaaaaay back during that wasteful period of youth termed army days. it was like the coolest thing was to wait to book out on a saturday afternoon. everything, and i meant literally everything sped by on saturday morning. you will wake up and breakfast isn't interesting, the cleaning is easier to complete, whatever lecture that takes place seems to move onwards more speedily although i swear you don't remember anything after that. as the hours fall to minutes, it's as though you start sensing blood (if you were a shark or croc) and the adrenaline starts pumping and your body moves to action.

then something like the following normally occurs. some idiot will do something stupid and run a risk of the entire platoon staying back for another hour.the heady rush of emotions when some jerk delays the booking out time is a scenario that everyone dreads. the indiction to violence, manifested as a simple curse in the beginning to all-round resentment to muttered threats towards the end kinda leaves no room in the mind of the accused what would be happening, if there wasn't any authority around.

*memories*

but anyways, that's all in the past. this week was pure anticipation and now with the end of the thursday workday and the onset of friday, it's a simple flow to a pleasurable weekend.

have a great easter holiday everyone!

why isn't there a bakery near my office?

in days when it seems like every little corner is filled with a breadtalk or a breadtalk competitor or a spin-off selling confectionery items...why isn't there bloody one near my office??? i am sick of eating rice/noodle-based food already. *sigh* and no...subway does not count.

lin, wanna give me more clues?

calendar days

so i decide to follow a trend (yes yes shock shock horror horror) and put the day in my MSN nick.

along comes olivia who conveniently tells me that this trend was HER idea.
'COPYCAT!' she says

'....' (to borrow a line, yes the dots are intentional). 'everyone's doing it now, so i ain't copying!'

and she went 'yah riiiiggghhhtt...'.

*silence* (yes, the silence is intentional)

~~~
wandered the entire length of Chinatown looking for an eatery that was open to ta pao some food. was like really surprised that even Banquet food court, opposite Hong Lim Complex, closed at like 8pm. there was like no food, even the yong tau foo was sold out. *sigh*
so i trudged back the length of Chinatown, back to where i started from and settled for one of those kopithiams that cater to tourists. you know the type where the old aunty selling drinks can debate with you why her beer tastes better than the kopi bing(ice coffee). and the uncle selling the zi char(food that can be made to order) is able to explain in coherent english the difference between fried rice and mui fan(rice with seafood & gravy). one is stir-fried and the other has gravy.
i had mui fan.
okays..so i was on mobilisation manning...BUT i didn't get mobilised. *lol* all that worrying for nothing. haha..yes debbs..i know..*faces downwards* next time i don't care so much about it okay?
and the best part is...i actually had a great weekend..attended eve & ken's wedding on thurs (woo hoo!), caught yousou n dour's mosaic performance@the esplanade on friday (stand shake try to follow rhythm sit down stand again), had one for one at wine bar after(glug glug glug), went to the arts house first year anniversary on sat where i caught 'bibiks in parliament'(laugh laugh laugh), then i watched hitch with baby (laugh laugh laugh again)and sunday spent it chillin' out and caught the beginning of someone else's wedding(ahhhh...so good so good).
bibiks was actually really pretty good..they have a performance coming out in sept under the 'main wayang' production group. do check it out!
*grin*
question of the day: why must chinese weddings traditionally be such a big thing?
Happy Birthday Evon!
slow time = zipped lips
am NOT going to speak about slow time no more, well, that is unless i have to kinda. but yah, no more comments about how fast the year is going but how slow the day is passing by.
developing a cough that i did NOT foresee at all. it started out on saturday as a red eye then the red eye disappeared on sunday, but then had a dry nose, wait throat (thinking too much about joey again), then it went away. and thus this morning, i woke up with a tickle in the throat. and that's where it all started.
i had this matrix-like scene in the morning on the train. there was this gush of cold air and i kinda felt the tickle in the throat, with an urge to cough...but the carriage was packed and it was like nose to nose with the other people...so i held the cough in. until i passed kallang, and i couldn't take it but i suddenly remembered that i had lozenges in my bag!! so i reached down to the bag and pulled out the lozenge and threw it in my mouth - all in slow mo. i felt damn cool.
alright. fine. cheap thrill you say.
oh yah, the prawn mee near my office is nice...got three prices, $4, $5 and $8. i shudder to think of the amount of prawns they are going to throw into the $8 bowl. prawn attack!
interesting observation
bintan is soooo nice...it's incredible how a stay in a villa can turn a one day holiday into an enjoyment. but to be honest, the service there is fantastic. singapore has so so much to learn about proper service from them. gonna do up a collage and post it up soon.
the other interesting fact that i got out of this trip, that i only managed to just mentally verbalise while i was on the train ( ok fine, too much detail), was that i think that i can believe in this company enuff to give my best, as long as they hold to their side of the bargain.
that says quite abit since i have never been a fan of corporatism. well, let's see what happens in the next 12 months.
end of March
and thus comes the end of march. yes i realise that i am writing this before the half way point of march. but doesn't it feel that way at all? march seems as good as past! and we got three quarts of the year left.
*ponder*
tks evon for the name of the artiste, did she do the cover or she's the original?
going on company offsite tomorrow at Bintan!! *grin* no work!! no coverage clippings!! *amused*
in the blink of an eye
cannot cannot believe how fast time just whizzed by me today. one minute i was fixing a fan in office and the next i am rushing home to give tuition. *sigh* what is going on lar dey?? i need time, give me time, desire time. if only so that i can finish more stuff within the deadline.
exceed expectations. nonetheless. btw, that's one of company principles. not something that i pulled out of my non-existential hat.
who sang the song 'loving you'? somebody please tell me. the one that goes 'loving you is easy cos you're beautiful, and loving you, is all i wanna do...'
it's been in my head, since LUSH 99.5 started playing it waaayyy too early. *shakes head*
tomorrow. round two. i can hear the bells go ring-ding-a-ling-ding-ling-a-ling do...
price of getting down to dinner - time; price of actual dinner items - $45; price of decision to order ice-cream - 30secs (would be faster but babes don't wanna be rushed); price of seeing faces cringing up when rushing to eat sweet ice-cream and encountering sour bits in first bite - priceless Posted by Hello
joey in the sun Posted by Hello
please god. let me let go.
remember my dog joey? remember when i wrote about him having the hole in the anal track and hence needing manual movement of his bowels?he bled a small puddle of blood from the anal regions in the night.
i spent the last 45 mins or so, just talking to him. telling him that i love him and that i am so glad that he played such a major part in my life as i was growing up. told him that should the pain or the trauma of his condition be too much, that he should let go. i will understand. i pray to god that i will understand. but how do you let a lifetime friend go? *gloom*
he shivered earlier this evening when i was doing the manual movement. i have never seen him shiver before.not when i was young and still frightened of the dark, and there was a power failure. i hugged onto him for protection and comfort as we waited for the power to restore. not when i used to run out after an argument with my parents, and i would stay there at the back of the house with him for hours. he always calmed me down so much. *more gloom*
when i was talking to him just now, he moved his head kinda. and also shaked his leg when i scratched his itchy area. but i couldn't bear to move him around and make him stand so that i could check for more blood. i will bring him to the vet sometime this month. i promise.
*deep deep gloom*
the eyes cannot mask what hides inside
friday
- hopefully get some shopping done. heard that aldo is having a 70% sale. wanna get some shoes that i can wear with both pants and jeans.
- hopefully finish the regional report and submit it by then. shock shock horror horror. numbers aren't my friend.
- hopefully get to go to the 2nd hand bookstore near my office.
- debbs birthday celebration at klinney road bar. that will definitely be fun yah! *smile*
thursday
- attended the media launch for the singapore fashion festival. the programme looks not too bad. pico arts were the event organisers. had a much better impression of them previously. not so much now, but *shrugs*.
- had a really good and cool meeting with cynthia, company HR. =) real thanks lots for the vote of confidence, cynthia and blair. maybe i made the right choice this time round? but cynthia, you are the first to make my day today.
- regional reporting. *shudder* counted the numbers wrongly again. means that i got to go through all the bloody clippings again. marc tells me that this is more his kinda thing. *brrrr* stupid stupid number counting. why can't this be a qualitative report??
- rush rush rush today.
- had a good revelation during drinks after media launch. heard some good news. blair, you double made my day! haha. *pray to god that it comes to pass*
wednesday
- wanted to do my second run tonight. but got sidetracked. havta have more discipline.
- regional report first count and draft up. seems like i can lick this thing by friday morning. heh. no sweat. decide to do analytics to help offload marc's load. first try. farked up. cannot make it. too many different categories and sub-categories.
- spent time wondering why is there so much analysis?
- was good catching up with marcus. too bad ben screwed up. supposed to meet for drinks, then he went to watch movie. bastard. haha.
tuesday
- managed to get janice, wendy and dawn to buy royce chocs for me to give baby tonight. tks lots babes!
- regional report starts to get beefed up. copy cut paste print count data entry. glance at actual report analytics. *shiver*
- media relations can sometimes be the sweetest thing possible and then reality sets in.
- dinner was good. sometimes the funniest of things amuse me. i wonder why.
monday
- seems like this week will pass by really really quickly. ohh yeah!!cannot wait til the weekend comes.
