food alert!
i have just discovered this new makan place in joo chiat. gosh. yes, maybe i might be a little slow finding out stuff in that area...but what the hell yah. anyways, the new place. right. it's called 'My Mum's Place' and is run by this really friendly, well, mother.she does really good food, all freshly cooked. when i was there, i saw one of the guys actually preparing the taupok, by hand. i mean, wow! when do you actually see that anymore?
ok, so for a table of two people, we had the beef hor fan(available in pepper and non-pepper versions), lor hon zhai(vegetarian dish) and the fried taupok(lightly crispy on the outside, soft moist filling on the inside). the food came really quickly, we are looking at like 15 mins max for everything to arrive together. the menu also had some of the other favourites ,your bean paste beef, har chong kai, sambal kangkong etc.
the full meal came up to about $24 for the two of us. it was a really fulfilling meal, not too filling(especially when it's dinner time), and importantly not too bland. all in all, a satisfying meal. *grin*
oh yeah, the orh ni comes highly recommended by samantha as well.
