azhang!
We went to Azhang to taste lamb or was it mutton? So the whole evening, it was mutton/lamb cooked in different ways - done alone, with rocket salad, and with something else. food in the tummy, memory remembers how good it was; but forgets the meat. human nature.Add a good conversation group to the food and drink mix and the night can really be complete.
For those not in the know, Azhang is this really cosy restaurant along Md. Sultan, opposite the Bak Ku Teh kopithiam. I think two or three incarnations ago, it sits on where Samsarra used to be. The prata place next to Samsarra has also disappeared for some time already. Think MUD (Minitry of Urban Development?) or some BCA or something released in a statement some time ago, that they were going to re-brand Md.Sultan as a food place. Notice that Clarke Quay = pubs and clubs while Md. Sultan become foodie place? Maybe the locations can get bored, so need to take turns?
Anyway, back to food. The food was delicious. The mains and desserts were awesome. Honestly, I have never left Azhang feeling hungry or that I overpaid for lousy food. Of which another gripe I have, being that Singapore overcharges for the quality of what they put on your plate. The gripe does not apply to hawker centres, kopithiams or food courts.
Part two for the evening became drinks at my place. The night was young but we old in the bones already...no more mood to "lancing, lancing". So Debbie, Adrian (note how fast they duck when the camera comes out), Sa, Wayne with Jason, Veron & bf adding to the group came over with more whiskey and some 80% alcohol. I think we couldn't find enough games to drink to.
Congrats group, you guys were the first to drink and Jason, the first to get drunk at my place! *grin*
